ICF

This system is identical for reinforcing layer and subsequent application of brick slips on to externally fixed insulation board and onto an ICF construction.

Technical Information for Component Parts

Armour Coating to Insulation:

These are supplied by Henkel Building Systems.
Ceresit CT 85 and CT325 form part of the Ceresit Ceretherm external insulated façade system that is accredited with European Technical Approval 004. Ceresit CM 18 adhesive is accredited to European Standard C2 TE and holds DIN/EN 12002.

In addition, Henkel production sites have been certified to ISO 9001 and EMAS/ISO 14001.

(Technical Approval Certificate available)

Ceresit CT85-25kg Reinforcing mortar Coverage 4kg/m²
Ceresit CT 325 Glass fibre reinforcing webbing 50m Roll
Fischer Fixing anchors Length dependant on depth of
insulation.
Ceresit CM18-18kg Adhesive 1.2kg/m² with 4 mm tooth depth
Ceresit CE 35 Pointing/grouting mortar Coverage dependant on size and
depth of joint.

After the external insulation layer has been checked to ensure flatness, the reinforcing mortar is applied and while it is still wet the mesh is laid into it. Each length of mesh must overlap the next one by 100mm and wrap all corners and into the window embrasures (a butt joint is a potential source of future cracking).

The correct size fixing anchors are put in place, (depth of insulation plus 35mm into concrete core), working while the mortar is still wet. The head is then covered by a small patch of mesh and mortared in place. They are placed at the rate of 5 per m².

The adhesive is a cement based flexible adhesive with a high bond strength. This type of adhesive is the most straightforward to use, having a good initial grab, reducing or eliminating the need for support. Working characteristics are similar to normal mortar.

Brick slips

Supplied by Celina Klinker and tested for water absorbency and frost resistance to DIN 105/EN 771-1. (Test certificates available)
